President – Paul Wennagel:
  • Special welcome to John Wallace after breaking his leg ..... again.
  • Funeral of Kevin Sharpe (retired Rotarian) 17 July 2015.
  • Directors meeting. 3½ hours duration. 25 Agenda points were debated, 23 Board decisions were approved.
  • $5000.00 donation approved to Clontarf.
  • $2000.00 to Shane R’s nominated charities post Ride across Australia.
  • $1000.00 to Shane R for out-of-pocket expenses incurred during the Ride.
  • Westpac account to be opened for Anne’s Ebola fund raising.
  • Hospital Playground project ($120000.00 raised). Dept of Health needs to be contacted for feedback re project.
 
Club Service – Garry Wilson
  • Procuring a water tank for the trailer, to be ready for Whale day outing to Thomas River.
  • Whale Day – 26 July. Meet at Rural supplies 09:30 returning from Thomas River at 16:00.
  • Gary to confirm numbers next meeting.
 
Vocational – Charlotte Davidson:
Will be away September and October. Will try and have a committee meeting before that.
 
Community – Bruce Jones:
  • 2015 Fireworks budget - $30 000
  • $20 000.00 for the procurement of the actual fireworks.
  • Mike Penny (RadioWest) will help with sponsorship.
  • Howards & Sons has been contacted to confirm a booking.

  • Thank you to Charlotte & Renae for organising the storage container and doing a stock take.

From the Floor
Tom – club is applying to ATO for a Deductable Give Recipient endorsement. 12 stage application. Will give the opportunity for club donors to qualify for a tax deduction. Annual subscription remains at $300.00.
Charlotte – wheelbarrow with tools, left over from Radio auction, will be raffled off at the Grand Final on 15 August 2015.
Lee – 16 days into Dry July. Donation cup were send around the table.
Peter S – Insurances for marquee needs to be finalised.
Eldrian – Proposed stricter statutory requirements for marquees to be classified as public buildings. Suggest club to be proactive in this regard.         
Jeff – Propose a condolences card from the club to Glenda Pitman. Her father past away.
Richard – Working with Children check.
He has WWC 11 application forms
Discussion followed regarding Working with Children check.   
Renae – RCEB is hosting Diego Rodriguez from Mexico, as our 2015 exchange student. John Wallace has offered to lend Diego an old Mobile phone. Club still needs potential host families to accommodate Diego during his stay.

Paul presented an insightful look into drug abuse and emergency care services.
Why do people use drugs?
Methamphetamines dump all dophamine at once to create a “high”.
Type of Drugs:
  • Depressants (alcohol)
  • Opiates (Heroin/codeine)
  • Stimulants (Cocaine/Meths)
  • Hallucinogens (LSD/Psilocybin/Cannabis)
7% of Australians 14 yrs and older have used Meths at least ones. Lee M thanked Paul
