ACE is back!
The Rotary Club of Esperance Bay is proud to be hosting Adventure Camp Esperance in April 2020 (ACE 2020). ACE 2020 is a week-long camp for adults with disabilities from our own region.
“We had such a great response from participants and the wider community for Adventure Camp Esperance 2017, the Club thought it was time to do it again.” said Club President, Heather James.

ACE  2020 is an opportunity for participants to have a break from their usual activities and experience living in a camp situation.
Some people may not ever have been on a camp or been away from their family or primary carer for such a long period.
For others, camp will offer activities they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to experience.
An important aspect of ACE is the respite it will provide to the families or carers of the camp participants, an opportunity to know that they can have a break and that the person they care for is in a safe environment and having a great time.

Each camp participant will be matched with a one on one volunteer support worker who will encourage and guide them throughout the week.
This person will be their camp friend or buddy for the week.

We are on the lookout for people who are willing to take on the role of a volunteer support worker for ACE 2020.
It’s a live-in role, staying in the beautiful boarding facilities at the Esperance Anglican Community School.
Support workers, along with the participants, will be engaged in a range of fun activities with a trip to Woody Island, sand boarding, a gala dinner and lots of other activities are all planned.
"It’s a very rewarding role, and a lot of fun, but importantly you are giving a person with a disability, and their family, a fabulous opportunity.” Mrs James said.

The Rotary Club of Esperance Bay is very grateful to the organisations that have provided sponsorship for this event, including Southern Ports Authority, Shire of Esperance Community Grants program, Independence Group, the Rotary Club of Esperance and the Esperance Deep Sea Angling Club.

ACE 2020 is also supported by a range of community groups, small businesses and individuals who are working together to make ACE 2020 a fabulous event.
