The new bridge over the railway line in Sims Street was officially opened last Sunday (25th September).

Rotary Club of Esperance Bay was there to assist the associated fund raising venture by selling egg and bacon burgers.

We sold about 140 of our famous egg and bacon burgers adding $731 to the fund for eye machines.

Date: Sunday 25th September
Time: 10:30am to 1:30pm
Venue: Road and parking areas adjacent to the east side of the bridge.

Purpose:
1. Official opening of the bridge
2. To raise funds for a Laser eye machine for Esperance Hospital.

Apparently the CT scanner committee have received a rebate
(of about $30K) on the cost  of the CT scanner (due to a bulk purchase of 3 machines by the government) and it has been suggested/decided that  the funds should go towards a new laser eye machine for Esperance hospital (cost ~ $85K). The idea is to get the kitty up to about $43K and get the WA government to match it $ for $.
It is expected that Cliffs and the bridge contractors will contribute to the fund also.

Our role:
We have been asked to sell bacon and egg burgers, hot dogs, or similar.
Cliffs have said they will pay for the ingredients of whatever we sell (provided the proceeds go to the cause).
We may also erect our marquee for a shaded eating area.

Other participants:
Lions will have their sausage sizzle.
Esperance Rotary will have their fish van + their merry go round.
Apex will operate their "train" for trips over the bridge and back.
Esperance Fundraising committee and their donut machine.
a bouncy castle
possibly other market type stalls

The Community Committee will organise our part in the event and will ask the rest of the club to help where required.
We hope to get more details about the site and our location on it in the near future.
