Director Reports
 
President – Brian Tolhurst:
At the Directors’ meeting it was decided to donate $2 500 to Hope FM for outside broadcasting equipment and telephone to air equipment.
 
Club Service – Kerr Fulton-Peebles:
The ECRB Event Calendar will be finalised next week.
 
Community – Garry Wilson:
Esperance Emergency Services Day is being held on Sunday 18 Sep at the Greater Sports Ground, Brazier St. RCEB will be erecting the small marquee and assisting with parking.
 
International – Jeff Buckman:
Will support Sustainable Cambodia.
Sausage sizzle fundraising at Bunnings on 25 Sep; 18 Oct and 4 Dec.
 
Prickle Farm – Peter Schmedje/Fleur McDonald:
Pasture improving well.
Sheep at Inkster’s will be shorn before being moved. Date to be set when weather permits.
 
Membership – Renae Poot:
STAR Program (Special Training for Action in Rotary) meetings will be held Tues 30 Aug and Tues 25 Oct at EACS.
Renae will notify invitees (new members and their mentors) of the time and 'homework'.
 
Treasurer – Bob Jones:
Still getting bank clearance.

From the Floor
- President Brian will put $100 on the bar to commemorate Long Tan and his (Brian’s) birthday today.
- Charlotte D clarified ESHS program for girls mentioned last week. It is for all girls considered at risk at ESHS. RCEB donated funds to assist in buying equipment.
- John W shared info from Rotary Down Under re monthly meetings; Corolla Trek in SA and an advert for red wine ($130 for 15 bottles).
- Peter S re advertising hiring the marquee. Big Marquee required at Castletown Primary School on 7 Sep for their 50th anniversary. To be erected on Monday 5 Sep.
- Jen F reminded members that the Esperance Music Festival was on.
- Shane R reported that the Bijou Theatre is 120 years old this year [built in 1896].

- Ian McC fined Tom M re Prickle Farm budget – Tom forgot three paddocks in his calculations.
- Renae P & Dong Hua put change in the box from when they helped a bee stung biker.
- Mike C fined Heather – told a joke about a couple and death.
 
Guest Speaker:
John Wallace introduced Shane Liddelow from Goldfields Esperance Development Commission (GEDC) Esperance sub-office.
Shane gave an update on GEDC funding programmes including:
  • Royalties for Regions - Community Chest Fund – up to $50 000;
  • RforR Regional Grant Scheme - $50 000 - $300 000 which has broad guidelines. (22 Sep cut-off date for applications);
  • Goldfields-Esperance Revitalisation Fund – for infrastructure ($3mill has gone to Esperance Aged Care);
  • Regional Investment Blueprint Fund – access to it still being worked on – it is Tourism specific. Projects include: upgrading caravan and camping grounds at Lucky Bay and other locations; better entry statement for cruise ship passengers (in partnership with Esp Yacht Club and others); aquaculture zones – assistance for developers.
  • Shane also mentioned the Skate Park, Esperance Hospital, Greater Sports Ground upgrade.
He suggested we check out the website for small grants – www.gedc.wa.gov.au/
Shane thanked RCEB for the community work we do.
Dick Thorp thanked Shane on behalf of Club members.
